Do We Have A Song? By Gio Masserati

Do we have a song?
Lists so many years long
Lovers of music
How to choose just one
Some are serious- -others so fun
R&B,80's, Disco, Soul, n Rap
Smooth Jazz and Love Songs
We could draw a map
We'll start from the Oldies
Then move to just Classics
Hey- -'Casey Kasem'...we Loved you!
Or Soul Train, funkily dancing their thing
I get so excited listening to the lineup
Locals in a Street Band rockin' with their sign up
My feet start dancin'
N my body starts to roll
The music industry today
Has surely taken it's toll
Pay the piper n play their songs
Oh yea! They're all our songs
We dance, dance, dance
Rockin' it...Rockin' it
All night long

So play me your music
I'll play you mine
together we'll weave
a badaaa' playlist intertwined
So Divine
So Divine
Our music is the backdrop
The soundtrack of our lives
No green screen or soundboard
Just makin' music...as we rise
So, do we have a song?

Oh we are...makin' music til the end?
Oh, play that funky music every night!
'Play that funky music till you die,
Oh till you die! '...

So we do have a song...it's All of our favorite songs wrapped up together in the soundtrack to our life together!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
'Play that funky music (right) boy...'
Cuz we are 'dancin' and singin' and movin' to the groovin'
And just when it hit me somebody turned around and shouted,
'Play that funky music'.............................................................
.....Lay down that boogie and play that funky music till you die
Till you die, oh till you die...'
'Play That Funky Music' is a song written by Robert W. Parissi and recorded by the band Wild Cherry. The single was the first release by the Cleveland-based Sweet City record label in April 1976, and distributed by Epic Records.
