Do You Remember? Poem by eeel lee

Do You Remember?

A cascade of truth,
A cataract of news,
Came to me in the night.
I woke with an abrupt silence.
The room stood still.
A word had been installed in my brain,
By the work of an invisible drill.
'Innocence'
Sparkled in my minds eye.
Then I remembered the whole aim of the game,
Was to return to the person I started as.
The one that was uncorrupted,
But then came corrupted,
And from that corruption
Learnt how to become uncorrupted again.
Underneath all that judgement and heartache,
Underneath all that pity and heartbreak,
Is the person you really are.
Do you remember?
When I was a child,
I used to look up at the sky in awe,
The orange and blue,
Was gentle and new,
Like nothing I had ever seen.
As I grew,
I forgot that feeling.
I started to look down at the floor,
I closed the door,
I ignored the awe.
Now,
I look at the sky in awe again.
It's like nothing I've ever seen.
The wonder glows inside of me,
It glints like a dancing star.
The person you really are,
Do you remember?
