When some one does such a thing as this spoken in jest or real. It effects the very foundation of the world of those whom do so care about you.
'If I were to die' should replace 'If I was to die'... The subjunctive is used in contrary-to-fact, impossible, or IMPROBABLE conditions, such as the one you posit in your poem. Why all this longing for self-destruction, by the way? Who is damaged?
