Does Anyone Care? Poem by Jordan Everly

Does Anyone Care?

Rating: 5.0

If I was to die tonight
Would anybody care?
If I used a gun
Would anyone hear?

If I was to die tonight
what would I lose?
Would anybody care
If I used a noose?

If I was to die tonight
Would it be, because I took my life?
Would anybody care
If I used a knife?

'If I were to die' should replace 'If I was to die'... The subjunctive is used in contrary-to-fact, impossible, or IMPROBABLE conditions, such as the one you posit in your poem. Why all this longing for self-destruction, by the way? Who is damaged?

When some one does such a thing as this spoken in jest or real. It effects the very foundation of the world of those whom do so care about you.
