Does Elvis Come With The House? Poem by Richard Jarboe

Does Elvis Come With The House?

Tomorrow Graceland goes to the highest bidder,
Question#1 How much?
You will hear the faint weeping sound of a fiddler,
When the word- told is 'sold.'

Question#2: Will Graceland be sold furnished?
Or will they strip it to the bone?
What's to become of the Jungle Room?
Will they leave the lampshades alone?

Big Question #3: Does Elvis come with the house?
Elvis is more of a mineral than a King,
So who owns the mineral rights to Graceland?
It's a very touchy thing.

Graceland's income averages 10 mill a year,
Without Elvis and his furniture, it's just a house on the block.
The whole family is buried by to the swimming pool,
If they go with the house that'd be a shock.

Although unreal, let's say it's part of the deal,
Mineral rights give you the king and his kin,
You could dig 'em all up, add a new set of clothes,
Put 'em on display and let the big money begin.
