Does It Have To End Poem by Kristen Donovan Hutt

Does It Have To End

We talked all summer
We were always together
You said you loved her
I said you could do better

You trusted me with your secrets
You told me 'bout your past and regrets
I confided with you, the catch in my life's nets
We knew as much about each other as it gets

But suddenly, it had all ended
That straight road we had was bended
You made a promise, that to me, had offended
And now you don't want our lives to be blended

You say you're sorry, but we can no longer talk
And back to reality I come, in shock
I ask why, does she watch you like a hawk
You say cuz you love her and don't want her to walk

So I guess all that's left to say is this
Whenever we had talked, it was like being in bliss
And I think about camp, you're the first that I miss
You saved my life, and to repay you, if I could I'd start with a kiss
