Does Not Wait Poem by Francis Duggan

Does Not Wait

Tomorrow will dawn and yesterday has gone
Time does not wait it just keeps ticking on
It does not wait for me and will not wait for you
To live in the now is the best we can do

Day follows night and night follows day
And time on our lives ever ticking away
The past just a memory of what used to be
And who knows what the future holds for you and me

The champion athletes in their physical prime
Like all others will eventually succumb to time
Each day we does live brings us one day more near
To our date with life's Reaper the one so many fear

The wealthy and famous and those in poverty
Share one thing in common would you not agree
The monarch no different to you and to i
Was born into life to eventually die

The Seasons to our lives does come and does go
And eventually time becomes everyone's foe
Live in the now is the best we can do
Tomorrow may not dawn for me or for you.
