How do you unlock the secrets, into someone's inner soul
How do you fill a goblet, which has never been full
How do you plant an oak tree, on ground that's dry and hard
How do you repair a friendship, that's in a million shards
When do you yell farewell, to someone who's never gone away
When do you go to sleep, if there is no night or day
When do you wake from sleep, if you life is only night
When do you fear the darkness, if all there is is light
Who do you trust with secrets, when the secrets you have to give
Who will take them if they change the way you act, and judge if you die or live
Who will keep a silence, if no one every speaks
Who will fix a pipe, that has and will never leak
Why do you live in this world, where we pray to have no pain
Why do people live these days, if there is nothing to gain
Why does the sun rise in the west, and why then in the east
Why does it set and end the light, our souls seem all the least
Without anyone to love, why do we praise it so
Without anything to covet, you surely wouldn't know
What you would like have, and what you keep away
Does the dark mean nighttime, and does the light mean day.

Wow! I was about to comment that this was another great poem by Michael Foster. But then I scrolled down and read your note and am dumbfounded that you are only 12 years old! ! ! ! My goodness, what a wonderful gift you have for the written word! Now all I can say is that I am amazingly impressed by your talent. Please don't ever stop writing. The world needs to hear your words!
