Doin' Good - Poem by Robert Brendan

Hey I say
I see his name on the call display
I know its him
he’s laughing at
something
on the other end
having a good time
hey he says
still laughing
How’s it going?
I ask
Well I don’t know
am I doing good
he asks?

the question was
already understood
it's just how it's
formed
that changes
yeah, I say
you’re doing good
Good he says
How good is it?
oh its good. real good
that’s great, how much is it
for one?
one ninety man, I gotta go one ninety
Is it that good? he asks again
oh yeah
So could you do two for one eighty five?
yeah yeah. I can do that
where are you
out by capilano
oh...really
Well, we can come see you
at my house?
yeah
all this when I think my phone
is tapped by the police
