Dollars Poem by Vera Sidhwa

Dollars

Green

The numbers were great.
All mankind did appreciate.
In the United States
The green meant dollars.

Our lives were at stake
As the greens made up awake
That the diminishing returns
Told me that I had to work harder.

The work and jobs increased therefore.
I worked hours and hours galore.
The work that was to be found
Was nowhere now to be found.

The reality landed on the ground.
It did me surround.
It worked that way
Today.
