Dolphin Day

Whenever the distance
Between my heart
And your heart
Overwhelms me
I dream of the dolphins
Swimming two by two
In the dark blue
Water of that bay.
And then remember you
On that dolphin day
Pressed against me
Warmly as if to say,
“Our hearts will always
Leap together
Side by side,
Like these fish at play,
No matter how old we are,
Nor how far away.”
