Don'T Be Fooled Poem by Shiloh Thompson

Don'T Be Fooled

Rating: 2.5

I won’t be fooled again,
By false promises of friendship,
Never again trusting blindly,
In those who sugar coat their lies.

Standing up for myself and others,
Will never be as easy as it is now,
Fighting for my rights to live,
And to love without remorse.

I always protect the ones I love,
No one could do better than that,
Taking the fall for everyone else,
Persevering because it was right.

I’ve had heartbreak, hatred and strife,
Battled emotions that threatened to kill,
Each time I’ve come out on top,
Because that is the kind of person I am.

So hate me because you say I’m annoying,
Hate me because I sometimes act immature,
Hate me because I am not a true friend,
I just ask if you hate me for the right reasons.

No, there is no reason why one should hate another! Let us love all and serve all! Let us hurt never, help ever!

Shiloh, good for you. You have the courage to stand up for what you believe in. This reminds me of a line from the song Eve Of Dstruction by Barry McGuire. Eve Of Destruction, Dunhill Records 4009,1965. This song's lyrics has a lot of truth in it, still today, with the MIddle East crisis. What this says, is that there is a lot of unrest because of the war, hate because of the color of the skin, the religious beliefs, and/or the lifestyle the person is living. If you hate me, don't hate me because I am transgendered, dislike me because of a valid reason, and hating me because of my gender identity, is not a valid reason. Thank you so much for sharing this part of your soul. Your words ring very true. Best wishes and hugs, Barbara
