Don't Let Go Poem by Neeraj Kumar

Don't Let Go

Rating: 5.0

You can't leave me alone
Take my hand
Don't let go
And you can't stay away from me
You know, I know
What we share with each other
They don't wanna know
So don't let go

Sorry, I'm helpless can't do anything, I'm numb
They think I'm crazy
They think I talk to myself
But they don't know you
They say you're just in my head
You don't exist
You're just my imaginary friend

They tying my arms, I'm screaming out loud your name
Please come out, save me, quit playing games
I need your help like the last time
You helped me through my hard times
Back when in the school when they beat me
you hit them back
For me you've done a lot
I need you once again, take me out

You can't leave me alone
Take my hand
Don't let go
And you can't stay away from me
You know, I know
What we share with each other
They don't wanna know
So don't let go

You're the one who listened my story
I told you my every secret
Everything I liked
Everything I feared
I even told you about Jenny
The girl from the school that I liked
You said I'd have to talk to her
I didn't talk to her I'm sorry I lied
And that boy Eddie who bully me
Once he hit me on the nose
It started bleeding, I was in pain for a sec I froze
You said I'd have to hit him back
Hit him back no more backing down
I had to do it for us
I hit that son of a bitch in guts
He fell down before he threw up
Man! you're like a brother to me
Actually more than that
Without you my life's like a grey picture

Mama's crying my stepfather looks afraid
I'm struggling as they taking me to the van
Where are you I can't see you anywhere
I don't wanna go I wanna stay with you
Did these people scare you off?
They don't want us together, they're Cruel
I guess you've left me
Left me like my dad
Then I didn't know what to do
Now I know what to do
I don't wanna live without you
I'm running away
They running after me
I have to do something before they catch me
Oh see there's a bus coming
And I'm throwing myself under it
I'm letting you go

(cont.) you make this very believable, and it probably has happened, at least for the most part. maybe not a bus, but a knife or fall from window, OR train? lots of possibilities. i think death would be preferable to such a life, but some may lead a good enough life on medication(s) . to MyPoemList and to my November showcase of poems from PH poets, this month featuring poets of Indian subcontinent. Thanks bri :)

You don't exists.....use exist :) i'm 'into this poem', but not a patient, though some may suggest i should be! i like the repeating from stanza #1 to #4. in last stanza i'd use stepfather, no space. (cont.)
