Don'T Tell Me Of How Marvellous You Are Poem by Francis Duggan

Don'T Tell Me Of How Marvellous You Are

Don't tell me of how marvellous you are self praise I do not wish to hear
Of your type I have known too many and I've lived for many a year
You tell me of your life successes and of your outstanding career
But I will not be singing your praises I hope to you I've made that clear
I've grown tired of those with inflated egos to their feelings of their own self importance they cling
To say the least I do find them boring and their praises I never could sing
I do like the humble quiet achiever the one who has little to say
The one who has a normal ego and never boasts of self in any way
Such people I feel happy to talk to with self they are not pre-occupied
They never boast of their achievements and their's is such a quiet sense of pride
So many are into self promotion they take love of self to the extreme
'Twould seem they must brag of their achievements as a booster to their high self esteem
Don't tell me of how marvellous you are your type I do meet every day
I quickly tire of self promoters does that seem a harsh thing to say?
