Once upon a toilet wall
Done In By A Digital Woman - Poem by Once upon a toilet wall
March of 2007,
and I'm posting poems,
Good poems! the best I've written! .
They're exploding into my head faster than jet puffed popcorn in my microwave
and I'm flying high in the sky
when a message flashes across my computer screen in bright Red Helvetica type-
'I LOVE YOU.'
but I don't give it much thought
and click onward to post another poem.
but there it is again-
'I LOVE YOU! '
and so I answer back-
'I love you too. When are we getting married? '
and she answers-
She tells me to call her but I message back that I'm shy
and write her a short sweet poem,
telling her my heads not together, that I really can't relate to people.
the messages start coming in, fast and furious!
'WHY CAN'T YOU LOVE ME'
'WHY CAN'T YOU LET YOURSELF LOVE ME! '
I tell her that I've suffered from a bad case of love and my wounds are still healing,
that I can care about her, but I can't give or accept love.
that I'm old enough to be her father,
that I'm already dying from my life.
and another message comes in-
'WHY CAN'T YOU JUST LOVE ME! '
'I hate myself, I just want to crawl under a rock and die! '
and I find myself very concerned,
feeling bad, feeling guilty
I start using unfamiliar words-
like 'Sweetheart, honey'
I tell her I love her, when I only care.
And immediately, the night brings with it droves of messages,
showering love, relentlessly,
poems of physical love with multi color bracketed verbs
[ HUG ] [ KISS] [ FEEL ] [ SIGH ]
She tells me she needs me, her heart aches for me,
she can't live without me.
She sends me a beautiful handwritten letter with her pefumed scent
and a drawing of herself sitting by the sea at sunrise
with the prettiest blue eyes she says turn blue green when she cries,
tells me I'm her starbright starlight!
and It's Our destiny to meet at last!
our souls finally together again
locked in love and 'spiritual penetration'
'She's my Nellie, Angeline! '
'Shel' be mine forever and ever! '
a change comes over me.
I start sending her dozens of love poems!
I start craving her contact!
I cant stop thinking about her!
I long for her messages every day, every night!
and I dream of her
SHE'S MADE ME LOVE HER!
SHE MADE ME LOVE HER!
a n d - t h e n - s h e - l e a v e s - m e!
for a better poet!
and I can see it
in his message box in bright red 36 point helvetica type-
'I LOVE YOU! '
and I'm crying
[ CRYING ]
