Beneath the surface so still she there lay
The woman whose deep eyes could never betray
Her vision a blur reminding her then
Of such terror and pain at the young age of ten
Abruptly the woman then closing her eyes
Broke the still surface and there she did rise
Droplets fell swiftly as she gasped for fresh air
And erupted in tears with all her despair
The room was well-lit by candles all round
Flickering shadows they seem to surround
Sweet music like drugs now calming her mind
And the feeling of peace then let her unwind
Memories escaped from a dark dreary place
Divulging a nightmare she’d hoped to erase
Her tears turned to crimson and there they fell
Soaked in the fear on which she did dwell
With tear stained cheeks she prayed for release
To awaken a being knowing only true peace
With that her last prayer she closed her sad eyes
And awoke a white bird soaring high through the skies
