Down To The Depths. Poem by Cheryl McDonnell

Down To The Depths.

Down to the depths I go
Falling away from the shallows
My veins on fire
The water is my gallows

The stones around my feet
The cross upon my back
On the bed I will sleep
I'm never coming back

I'm done with me and I'm done with you
I'm done with Christmas
And Easter too
I'm free to part with my carcass

Life I didn't ask for
My birth was not mine
However many chances
This is now my time

Grandma, Grandad, Dad & Mrs Black
Your open arms await me
Just across the track
My train has come to take me back.
