Dragon Blood Poem by Maurice Rowlands

Dragon Blood

Awoken to the pierce of a sword
A thunder of a heartbeat
Beating for a thousand moons
Deep below
At the darkest depth of the chasm

What is it you seek
He asks
In his dying breath
Do you seek vengeance
Because I'm a dragon

Forsaken to the words of legend
A thunder of a dying soul
Breathing for a thousand suns
Deep below
At the deepest realms of existence

Why have you come
He asks
In his dying haze
Do you seek glory
Because I'm a dragon

Mistaken for a beast from Hades
A thunder of a drifting dream
Reaching for a thousand answers
Deep below
A creature from another world

I now seek forgiveness
He replies
For in your dying eyes
All I see is sorrow
But you are indeed a dragon
