Drawing On The Left Brain Poem by Michael Pruchnicki

Drawing On The Left Brain

Just once in a while, I thought, if poets
could use the left brain
to satisfy those
who read closely
expecting more
than unstructured
catharsis

Logorrhea afflicts
many who profess
the craft of poetry
a technical term
which implies
careful choice
of figurative
language

Graceful degradation
implies loss of clarity
and specificity
in the work
of some
who decline
into vagueness
