Dream Poem by Alice Kriel

Dream

I dreamt last night of a mysterious forest,
I dreamt of a most beautiful place.
There I was covered with a blanket of mist
and hidden from the rush of the human race.
Last night I dreamt of galloping unicorns.
Also in my dream, was a huge tree in bloom.
In its branches hung the clothes which fairies have worn
and baby nymphs were born in its womb.
Last night I dreamt of wondrous flowers’ scents,
dancing in the air and filling the night.
It flowed into my nostrils, as intoxicating as incense,
filling all my senses, even my sight.
Then I saw moonbeams, dancing around my head.
They did little tricks and twirled around elegantly,
until suddenly, without reason, they fled.
I heard the wind whispering quietly,
calling me further into the wood.
I remember wondering if I should follow,
I remember wondering if I could.
I long for the forest’s peace, for there I had no foe.
Last night I dreamt of a place of mystique.
Last night I dreamt of diamonds of dew.
In my dream I felt you thought me unique,
I dreamt last night that I was loved by you.

I can see the wood...for some reason it seems a bit scary to me. Like a big bad wolf is going to pop around the corner and chew on me for a bit. The good news...not nearly as bad as you had hoped, my dear. The point is that the imagery is good...I can picture the scene. Better luck next time on writing a poem worse than mine. Much love, ams
