Dream And Awakening Poem by Brandon Shutter

Dream And Awakening

Late night dreams seem unending,
I find myself lost in this pretend place.
Reality is unbending – overwhelming.
I seek solace, escape from the never ending race.

Fear overtakes me, confusion sets in,
What is this place, why am I here?
Darkness surrounds me,
my head starts to spin.

I need to wake up.
This isn’t real.
Someone help me leave this place.

The light blinds me,
I blink away the shock,
I hear a voice.. your voice,
I turn over and become aware
of you smiling at me.

The fear fades with joy taking it’s place.
I feel my pulse quicken,
I smile back at you, I reach in for a kiss.

Your touch a soft caress,
Your lips a soft sweetness
I am lost in this magic
I am lost in this moment
Our heart beats matching

The feel of your arms being around me
I cannot express my delight
I think of you every morning
And dream of you each night

Never have I felt this
Never have I fallen
But I am on my way
Quickly losing this fight
Baby, you hold my heart in your hands
That of which has never before been given away
