This morning while I still was not awake
but no longer slept disaster slipped
invisibly on cloven socks into
my bed, cuddled up against me
and so as not to wake me whispered my name.
While not opening my eyes I saw him
look at me his eyes shut too
stroke the pillow he took for my lips
and that kissed him just as I would have kissed.
We embraced in the assumption of each other.
