Dreamflight Poem by Justin Chan

Dreamflight

The summer sun seems happy,
As it shines with childish joy.
3 o'clock in the afternoon,
I sit,
Beneath the shade of a wide old tree,
Listening to summer's stories.

A gust of wind,
I feel it on my face.
Growing stronger,
It blows me off my feet.
I am flying,
Soaring in the summer wind's wake.
In the air,
I am exhilarated.

I see the lives of many things,
I see the many dreams of man.
The small young river meanders,
Through many flowering meadows.
Lazy animals lie asleep,
Hiding from summer's heat.
I see them all,
As I fly with the summer wind.

Higher, higher I soar.
I break through the clouds,
And see the world in glory.
Mighty clouds rise and fall,
In magnificent structures.
A flock of birds pass by,
And I watch in bemused wonder.
Surely, this is life.

A curious finger pokes my face,
I am awakened,
By the smiling face of an old friend.
