Dreaming My Future Poem by Bianca Haw

Dreaming My Future

I’m so scared that I will never know you
I’m terrified that the future that I dream about:
the dreams that I have, the picture in my head;
May never come true

I sit here and the tears fall
I cry for what I saw
I cry for what I’ve imagined
and I continue to sob until it’s all gone,
until the world has again righted itself

Only to see your face,
Picture your blonde hair,
Zoom in on your perfect lips
and feel your hands on my hips...

I hope that one day I can show this to you
Let you read it
Have you hold me in your arms because it all came true
And feel thankful for the preview that led to these words

But as I lie on my bed
I’m so scared that I will never know you
I’m terrified that the future that I dream about:
the dreams that I have, the picture in my head;
May never come true

I dream too much
I set the bar too high
My expectations are too unrealistic
And yet all that I want is you!

I’ve made you up in my head
I’ve set our plans in stone.
I’ve decided on our future’s, together
But never, until last night,
did the image finally become complete

I saw it all:
Me, feeling comfortable and confident in white
You, at my side, holding my hand
Matching gold bands decorated our hands
I leaned into you
Your arms encircled me
Our lips touched
And my future was sealed

Now all that I need is you...
