Dreams Poem by Lilibeth Apat

Dreams

As a child, I dream of being a nun
The habit and godliness inspired me much,
But the more I watched TV
My dreams assumed a different touch.

I wanted to be a newscaster then
Just like my idols, Tina and Helen;
Or I can be a bank teller
And count money faster then others.

Then I met one “ kuya ”
Who draws nice portraits and designs
Learned he’s into Civil Engineering
And would someday build bridges and buildings

From then on, I knew what I really wanted
Almost everything I ever did in school
Was geared towards achieving my goal
I’ll be an engineer, I promised myself years before..

It’s been five years since I finished college
Not one of these ever took place
My greatest dream of becoming an engineer
Has remained and dream up to this day.
