Dreams Poem by Samantha Viles

Dreams

Everyone has dreams
Even if you don’t think that’s true
Everyone has dreams
Dreams about what they want to do.

Dreams aren’t only what you see when you sleep
You can want to swim in the deep
Dreams can be what you want to become
When you’re older and you’re not lonesome.

I have a dream
And it’s something worthwhile
A dream that people can have when they’re a child
I want to be in the navy, I want to be free
I want to scour the earth, with my shipmates and me.

I’m already starting, I’m motivated to
Graduate school, and start off new
I’m already in training
And I’ll continue to train
So hard on my skills
But you also need a brain.

For years I will train and when the time comes
I’ll go to university and study with sums
To get somewhere in life you have to be smart
Otherwise you’ll end up in pubs throwing a dart.

Training takes years
But if you start off early
You’ll have a head start
And everything will come easy

That’s what I’m doing
Getting ahead
So when I am older
I won’t want to be dead.

Life is short
And if you don’t spend your time wisely
You’ll have lots of regrets
And not living your life could be costly.

Everyone has dreams
And I know you do to
So say it out loud
And listen to a few

You can have many dreams
Not just one
You can want to be evil
And block out the sun

The more clever you are
The more you’ll succeed
And you will live life
With a big lead.

Dreams are not always what you can create
It can be something you want to debate
You can want to be or do many things
You can want to create a tool that also sings

You can invent what you like
Like the guy who invented the bike
He fell lots of times but he got back up
Trying again not giving up

The more times you try
The closer you’ll get
And along the way you’ll dream more things
I’ll bet.

Everyone has dreams
Even if you don’t think that’s true
Everyone has dreams
So do you.
