Dreams & Bedlam Poem by Melanie Grant

Dreams & Bedlam

A dream…
lined the walls of my mind with cryptic emotions
and muted my sense of self-understanding
Confined in these hollow shafts
begins an era of contemplation
and mutiny against myself
my feet tread upon scattered omens
setting a path of my destiny
paved with a series of preordained events
This dream…
evoked by the daily thoughts and encounters with you
becoming such a ritual of mine
I silently await your arrival
to solidify the silent silhouette in my mind
Such attractive sight
that alters the contours of my current emotions
inadvertently fitting them to suit yourself
Your ignorance is tacitly pardoned
The dream…
Seeped into the range of my reality’s perception
through a crack in its foundation
Slowly encompassing my body
I try to contend these emotions
To powerful to exile
I surrender to their dominance.
The dream?
My reality…
