Dreamy Poem by J.W. Frogg

Dreamy

I'm back in here again... I've been here before you see.
The house seems cold this time, not warm and soft like before. There are no friends to count out and there are no women to spy. Sweet Virginia isn't home and she's not knocking at the door.
All the houses on this block seem empty and even the ghosts no longer linger. Strange for this time of year.
The trees are moving in rythm with a breeze that I can't feel and my hair grows too heavy for my eyes. Something is not right, something seems out of place. Is it me?
The block is not completly empty though. There is this dog. He (or she) followed me in. The dog seems to know something, it seems afraid of something in here. It's tail is tucked firmly between it's legs. It never barks, although it seems to want to. It stays forever behind me, biding it's time...waiting for...it. Waiting for...me.
The air feels thick, and it's hard to take into my lungs. Somewhere in the distance, I hear myself weezing, almost gasping for fresh air.
All my purpose seems lost, or forgotten... But, the dog still follows...Waiting... It seems determined to see what will become of this strage human. The human from the upper part of the world... The real world.
The sun has long since set, the world seems illuminated by some unidentified source. This is unsetteling, and yet I (and the dog) am not afraid... I've been here before you see. And I'm back here again...waiting...
