Drifting Away Poem by Tess Rockenstire

Drifting Away

I’m drifting farther than the sky
While this poet’s hands moving.
My eyes see visions -
The chaos, the carcasses of war.

I see sarcasm in a preachers voice,
I see merchants getting richer,
Yet at the end of the spectrum
I see children suffering in Africa.

I’m drifting farther higher than before.
I see angels wings around
Encircling the mid - cherubim
Whilst the world unknowingly -
Slipped through darkness.

I see teenagers sleeping in a coma,
While others inhaling marijuana.
I see earth worms joyfully awaiting,
The unsuspected decay of one’s flesh.

I see Obama winning the presidential election.
I see his office under fire.
I see poison of a modern world,
Will submit to darkness, chaos and sentiment.

I see a man will shut the Lions mouth.
My eyes in a trance, I see vision
I see a throne, a king - in white robe.
In a white horse he enters his kingdom.
Only the faithful will see his entrance.
