Drown The Night Poem by Monica Lambert

Drown The Night

Rating: 5.0

lets start the night-
one for luck
two hides the pain
three forgets the sorrow
four buries the regret
five drowns the guilt

now the scene will blur as you find yourself betraying those you love most

this is the never ending cycle,
every night the same.

take a closer look-
thats not a ciggarette in your hand,
thats not bubbles in your drink,
nor painkillers you seem so comfortable with.

hours later-
you fall to the grass,
throat clogged as it all comes out
-no way to scream
-no hope for help
-no way out
-no hope of life

here ends the night
at the touch of first light
you have one final chance
your final failed attempt to breath
before all is black,
and you exit the game

Very dramatic in both content and your choice of words. Thanks for a well written poem it may be your first posted but I for one hope it will not be the last.
