Drowning Fish Poem by Yiling Ding

Drowning Fish

I must be a fish
in human form.
It's so hard to breathe
outside the water
and I'm drowning,
dying slowly.
I feel the life
draining out of me
as I struggle to survive.
I am desperate for
the ocean
Let me jump in
and disappear from this
suffocating world.

Nobody sees me dying.

This is an excellent poem. I wish I were half this good at 17.
