Drunkard Saheb Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Drunkard Saheb

Drunkard sahib, you not less than an officer
As the red face of yours shows
It to be,
That you a son of a good father
But instead of that, lie you
Fallen on the pathways,
Who made you addicted to wine and wine taking?

May I ask, ask you,
Why do you keep yourself drunk all the time,
Is the bottle all,
Not your family,
That in addiction,
You do not remain within yourself
As one day it may result in
Domestic tragedy
Or in some serious accident,
As staggering, imbalance, scuffle to break,
The altercation, brawl and bruise,
Go not in your favour?

Drunkard sahib, may I ask,
When will leave drinking,
When will you the bad company of yours,
Drug-peddlers, ale-houseman,
Drunkard friends,
Drunk to full and falling,
indulging into a drunken brawl,
Altercation and a scuffle,
Himself smiling, himself weeping,
Taking time to pass out of the scene?
