Dues Poem by Windsor Guadalupe Jr

Dues

A man builds a home
With all his might
And a tempest
Ravages all of it -

A woman who sews
A rag for her sinister feline.
And in this desultory suddenness,
Time would wear the rag off.

Look,
This is the system.

You think you’re good with what
You’re doing
And yes it works very well.

Wait for your turn.
Somebody knows how to
Destroy you.

I’ve had my own death.
Soon, you’d have yours,
And it will be so grand,
That in your decomposition,

Your bones still ached.
