Duhallow's Last Legend Of Poetry And Song Poem by Francis Duggan

Duhallow's Last Legend Of Poetry And Song

Rating: 3.0

To an old school of literature he did belong
Duhallow's last legend of poetry and song
With words he was one who surely had a way
Some of his songs and poems are sung and recited today

In the nineteen fifties when i was a schoolboy
Kilcorney's John Twomey to so many people brought joy
Then the bard was in his physical prime
But this is going back many Seasons in time

The wanderlust in him he went to live far away
From Ivale in Kilcorney but i cannot say
If he is in the World of the living today
Only know he was one with words who did know how to play

John Twomey left Duhallow many decades ago
And doubtless since then time would have become his foe
his poems and his songs to many a source of joy
In the nineteen fifties when i was a schoolboy.
