Durga Poem by Shouvik Narayan Hore

Durga

Bravely the eyes of the slayer o'erlooked
The vast Universe which lay constituted
Of her fierce fury that empires shook,
Dancing to glory whilst her strength had fed
The Soul of nations that sheer courage read
In eyelashes of beauty, her war begone face,
While hangeth the beheaded beast from her arm,
And falleth blood down to that animal base,
Pride canst thou witness on His moist cheeks warm.
As greatness incarnates, what demons dare boast
Of brutal actions and vainglorious feats,
When from Heaven's heart humanity most
Is showered forth most in thy Mother's bosom?
Hail Durga, hail spirited power that Earthwards come.
