During Summertime Fun All Run Poem by Ellie Caley

During Summertime Fun All Run

Rating: 5.0

In the heat of the summer
Nothing is really a bummer
With dad's mowing their lawns
While teenagers yawn
Children screaming and playing
Mothers drinking and chatting
All the while…
Air force men are bombing
Navy men are squalling
Marines are scrambling
Wives at home are worrying
Widows praise what the stood for
While men we don't know they look for
Soldiers missing
Ones at home kissing
Their wives are caring
The community supporting
Yellow ribbons wrapped around trees
Flags blowing in the breeze
Shots ring out
As mothers shout
Bystanders take cover
Men pray for their mothers
Mothers pray for their fighters
As books are made by writers
Comparing with the past
War is something that will last
Lets not forget those who've died
And those who have survived
Support those families
And pray for the armies
The navy, Marines, and Air force too
Lets not forget those who save me and you.
