Dust Of Heart Poem by Salvie Rosales

Dust Of Heart

I could have stilled all memory of you,
Left in the world that had known your glance;
But here the star, the moon, the flower, the dew
Remember how your eyes caressed them once.
The winds recall how it had wrought one time
Intimacy about your form and mine;
Your voice, un-hushed in tremulous song or rhyme,
Trembles again on quivering leaf and vine.
When I am dead, I might forget this past;
Then I’ll rejoice! And dance! And sing my fill!
Laugh while I can-I know it cannot last;
Remember it had left the dust-of-heart
Down in a world of which you are part.
