Each Day I Am Healing Poem by Sheila Mitchell

Each Day I Am Healing

One day my heart will stop crying,
My head full of memories, hurting
Each day I am healing,
Raining tears in my thunderstorm,
New free world I need to transform

Flashbacks catch me off guard,
Fighting back is too hard,
Each day I am healing,
Words cut as deep, slip into my mind,
Manipulative, cruel, narcissistic, mastermind

Finding peace within my books,
Jealous, out of my hands he took,
Each day I am healing,
Classical music inspiring my soul,
A world still dark as charcoal

Fear driven away of the outside,
Never venturing back to the petrified,
Each day I am healing,
No more fearing things are out of place,
Freedom to enjoy the rhythm of my own space

Time will make me whole,
Completely under my control,
Each day I am healing,
Catch myself smiling, even laughing,
A life that I am now crafting
