Early Morning Walk Poem by Shelley Jones

Early Morning Walk

5am and all asleep.
Door softly unlatched,
We silently leave.
Soon footsteps on grass.

Slowly we run laughing
Like two thieves in the night;
Crisp air in our lungs,
Displaced dew mapping flight.

Pace changes to a walk
When we reach our sun path;
Nature's sounds that quietly talk,
As we look and hold hands.

Before we know it, it's seven.
In trouble we will be,
So rush back to set table
And make breakfast tea.

All awake dig in and eat.
Silent eyes smirk red cheeks.
Morning business has started,
No-one noticing our feet.
