Early Summer Thunder Storm Poem by Jaey Peele

Early Summer Thunder Storm

Clouds over lake flash
Groan grows to bellowing boom
Drops wet projectiles

Electricity
Refuses half the county
Poet grabs pencil

Magic energy
Withheld from appliances
Light bulb ignores switch

Loss of power sucks
People show human nature
For better or worse

Insert this side up
Caution severe tire damage
Come to Jamaica

Blinding thunder clap
Deletes modern convenience
Empty streets run off

Hadn't been for love
I would be in jail again
Not in Burmingham

It's time to learn things
Not just quiet listening
Smack the butt of spring

Newlyweds cuddle
Give up electricity
You are all I need

Wind lashed summer rain
Now electric goes offline
What next? Gravity?

Computer stopped working
Repent! These are the end times!
Easter Bunny's real!
