Earth Cred

Dear Fred,
As Mercury, Mars and Venus
were named after Jupiter's children,
why wasn't Earth as well?
Why wasn't Earth called Proserpine or Bacchus?
Was it important for Earth
to be neither boy nor girl?
Should Earth have been called Neuter instead?
What gives the name that we give it...
Fred, why isn't Earth called Cred?
