Earthworm Poem by Charl JF Cilliers

Earthworm

I nibble the earth
thumpsuck it, springcoilpushing
it down a bodylength.

A slow fart forward
into tunnelsheen: blunt
snout trams the impossible clay.

Colourless sun pelts the ground:
warmth trickles down
in
shivers me.

Dross nudged
a meaningful bit,
lodges its discomfort.

Body coils, uncoils.
Night is everlasting
crimson of clay:
gulps of opulence.

Springcoilpushing
down a bodylength: a
mazing darkness roils around.

Gulp and blindly gulp
dark earth within

tortuous alchemist of waste.
