Ebb Tide Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Ebb Tide

Ebb Tide

The fjord was just a walk away,
Our kingdom for the summer day.
When water rose to touch the land,
We launched our boats of wood and sand.

Six hours passed, the tide would go,
To leave the rocky ground below.
We hunted crabs within the clay,
While golden hours slipped away.

When winter came with biting frost,
We sailed on ice at any cost.
We slipped and fell in freezing deep,
With secrets that we had to keep.

We caught the dinner from the tide,
With nowhere else we had to hide.
Those days were long, the shore was free,
Beside our cold and steady sea.
