Echoes Of Eternity Poem by Kanwaljit Bhullar

Echoes Of Eternity

I relished my life,
abundant since birth,
death held no terror for me.
I chuckled persistently,
and when not in laughter,
a perpetual smile adorned my face.

Yet, death maintains its self-respect,
compelling acknowledgment of its existence.

I experienced my demise
numerous times in this singular life!
Initially, with the revelation of
the Hiroshima-Nagasaki Tragedy.
Amongst my varied deaths,
a recurrent demise ensues
when humanity commits self-destruction
in national conflicts,
religious tumults,
and terrorist assaults.

I am steadfast in my conviction
that death wields formidable power,
aligning itself with malevolent minds
to erode the fabric of humanity.
Ironically, humanity succumbs to self-annihilation,
attempting to preserve its distinct gods—
Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Christian, and the like.

Does a god require aid to safeguard itself?
