Eclipsed Love

Each time I reach, you vanish into the air
A fleeting wisp, too real yet not there
Like memory's ghosts, both fragile and rare
You linger unseen, nowhere to be seen

For Sun must bow to meet his Moon
An eclipse witnessed by galaxies of swoon
There radiance of light unfurled in tune
Yet I can meet you in light of pages in my heart
No mortal hand can hold that not there
The forlorn I cannot bear

You have raised my standard, solid and high
The banner of love beneath the sky
The grievance that your chivalry fails to shine in anyone else
No hollow words, no fleeting disguise
But honor revealed in the light of your eyes

I seek the love unlike yours
In the shallow world I continue to weep
So let me ride where nobler's love abides
Though earth denies, yet my spirit resides
