Edina-26 Poem by shuvo chakraborty

Edina-26

We are undone, they said, being completely undone by a generation,
Bunch of corpses so widely spread beneath the shadows spiralled
Of pyramid shaped, behind their heads an ancient city being visible
On the feeble light of desert moon furlong away like a distant dream.
Gradual cold seething them with the chill, sand blown with whispering silence,
As they expired long before this desert was born and azure deep mighty river
Fed the several kingdoms grown or won and heads several rolled under
the wheels of speeding chariots with the straight facing horses towards Babilonia.
Temple of Osiris and other new found divinities born on coast of Euphretis
Blossomed ideally all through the north coast of mighty Atlantic till they
Became Attic; but these corpses had never seen the golden hairs of tender prince
Lying beneath just their opposite with the immesurable wealth in deft aloofness.
There were several like him with eyes wide opened as if too frightened by golden dreams
Seeking now a reasonable hour to be demolished in to ashes.
Those ancient corpses are still laid before our dejected way too narrow
To encompass a vision paramount leading us to Delphi or weeping Euripides,
Although we are not far away from the miracle land of Oracle prophesized the
Most knowledgeable in the kingdom of fair thoughts and learning being not
Spoilt by hemlock; therefore we can speculate even from this considerable distant,
A deep impact of rising souls so strongly are felt that can overcome the sensual trifles.
