Effigy Poem by Eimile Nakoma

Effigy

I am wrought by your disdain for me.
Take heed the casted effigy!
Come see the silver statue!
Indeed, partake the preview.
See my cape of red,
Hung from round my head.
Circle me with your torch!
Do you see the other scorch?
You burnt that very wound,
With all you did presume.
Embossed that very scar,
That once was called my heart.

You have come, you have seen
Woe is the wretched queen!
But you could not replicate!
And I did not dare escape...
Watch as you burn the effigy,
The hollow mold is truly me.
