Efforts Appreciated - Poem by Brittney Wilhoit

“I love you”
I can take that lie
“I need you”
I live with that one as well
“You are like no one else I’ve been with”
Sure why not
“You make life worth living”
uhhuh sure
“You are beautiful”
Ha nice try
“I’ll never hurt you”
That’s where I draw the line

Ahh! Brilliant! My interpretation is that the speaker of the poem can take and live with any lie except the one that says, 'I will never hurt you'. The speaker has been hurt before and will not allow themselves to be hurt again. Am I right on the money? (Report) Reply
