Eggshells … Poem by Sara Beck

Eggshells …

So you hurt me,
then say you love me.
Forgiveness is your entitlement
and my obligation.
Enough, dear sister.
All the eggshells are cracked,
my feet are still full
of all the broken glass.
To live in your world
I must burn out of mine.
To love you,
means to lose me,
and we are out of time.
Blood isn't enough
to tie us together.
My healing heart,
as fragile as a feather.
So continue to roar,
push your will over me.
This time will be different,
I am not as weak,
as I used to be…
