Elegy Of A Phoenix Poem by Ella Veyes

Elegy Of A Phoenix

A caesura of music; a deep and wordless song,
When the pulse falters
Inside sorrow spun too long.
A music made of colour – chords of red and gold.
They burn a dance all through
The lingered sound of despaired cold.

A sky without a shade – for there’s no sun to be gone,
Though light lies buried in it,
Ever and anon.
Light that cracks the dark – like silver blood through skin,
Like Hope and prayer that hurts,
So to overcome the sin.

A breath of sweet relinquish – Strength that fluctuates,
It just wants some relief,
Peace from profound lies and fates.
But instead dances around heaven; a long and painful waltz,
‘Til with light of the sky’s soul,
Washes wrong like God’s own salts.

So with that unearthly music – familiar yet never played before,
Its beauty without reason, yet founded knowingly of sorrow’s lure.
For from sorrow rises Hope – a latent dream deep in all cynics.
A destiny that can be changed; reborn with flight, just like the Phoenix.e
